Cooperative Health Plan
ABC sponsors the Cooperative Health plan, bundling more than 20 cooperatives and over 4,000 employees under a multiple-employer welfare agreement. This arrangement provides size and scale to help offset large claims costs for participating employers, along with reducing fixed costs.
As an independent health consultant for the plan, Lockton manages the plan mechanics, offering strategies that have resulted in long-term renewal averages below market average.
Flexible Spending Accounts
ABC also offers flexible spending accounts through our Section 125 Cafeteria Plan. This option allows employees to utilize tax-free contributions to pay for their out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision and dependent care expenses.
Employee contributions directed to a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan are exempt from federal, state and FICA taxes. This is not only a savings to the employee, but in addition, the employer will save their portion of the FICA taxes.
Each employee may establish contribution levels to meet their own specific needs. As the employee incurs eligible expenses throughout the year, they submit proof of those expenses to UMB. The redirected dollars are then reimbursed directly to the participants.
Employees may direct contributions to three separate accounts:
- Required employee insurance premiums
- Out-of-pocket employee insurance premiums
- Dependent child care expenses
